Mechanica Has Achieved AEMT Codes of Practice Compliant Status
We are proud to announce that Mechanica Utilities Ltd has achieved compliant status with the AEMT (The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades) Codes of Practice, strengthening our capability to provide specialist repair services for equipment used in hazardous and potentially explosive environments.
AEMT compliance demonstrates that our repair processes, technical competence, quality controls and workshop practices meet the requirements expected when repairing and overhauling Ex electrical equipment. This is particularly important because equipment operating in hazardous areas is specifically designed to prevent electrical equipment becoming a source of ignition. During repair or overhaul, those protection characteristics must be maintained.
Our capability now extends to the repair and overhaul of applicable Ex-rated rotating electrical equipment, including:
• Electric motors
• Generators
• Pumps and associated electrical rotating equipment
• Other applicable Ex electrical machines used within hazardous-area installations
These types of assets are commonly found across the water, utilities, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing and process industries, where flammable gases, vapours or combustible dusts may create potentially explosive atmospheres.
Our Ex repair activities are carried out in accordance with the applicable AEMT Code of Practice and the requirements of BS EN IEC 60079-19 – Explosive atmospheres: Equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation.
